Yes. I paper filed. And yes it's no big deal. Also include the top portion of the letter you got when you received your last EAD. I also sent copy of my passport photo and signature page. Send a copy of your last EAD front and back. Also send a copy of your I-485 receipt notice. Really it's very straight forward.
Send your application to where your I-485 is pending not the Chicago lock box if yours is employment based GC.
I did my complete GC process my self. EAD is pretty simple, just dont forget to include all the supporting documents including I-140(if approved) and I-485 receipt copy and include a cover letter.
I e-filed for my wife. Once it was e-filed and receipts printed, we got the INS confirmation by mail in a week and the following Wednesday we did a walk-in to the local office for fingerprints. In 2 weeks after that the EAD was mailed.
