Hi folks. My 180 days since I485 filing has passed and I'd like to look for a new and better job. I'd like to switch careers somewhat and look for a job on the business side, I'm on the IT side currently (I work in financial industry). My labor was approved for the programmer job description, I don't remember the exact classification.
I know I can wait for I485 to get approved, but it looks like it's likely to be at least a year and I would hate to waste another year, after all these years of being stuck with my current job.
I read the Yates memo http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/lawsregs/handbook/I140_AC21_8403.pdf
and I don't see "similar occupational classification" being very clearly defined anywhere. I expect my future job to still involve some programming, but in all honesty it won't be the same job. How similar does the job description have to be and how does one measure "similarity"?
Has anybody else tried something like this and got approved? Or conversely, has anybody tried something like this and got denied?
