how did you find out your RFE or your approval?

Hi,

I submitted 140+485 in June to TSC. This week I noticed that the LUD for 140 changed TWO days in a row and then stopped. The 485 was not touched at all. There is NO change in the online status (still the same as "we received your application..."). There is NO email notification.

If you received an 140 RFE or approval before, could you please share your experience how you found out your approval or RFE?

Someone said it is a bad sign because 485 was not touched. But someone said 485 will only be touched after fingerprints etc.

Someone said if a RFE is issued, the LUD usually changes for 3 days in a row or even more than 3 days. And LUD change for 2 days (and stopped) is probably an approval. Is this theory true?

Could you please share how did you find out your 140 RFE or approval? Is it (not counting the LUD at the very beginning when they receive your appplication)

1. LUD changed for 2 (3? 4?...) days and at the last day of LUD change, you received an email about the RFE or approval?

2. LUD changed for 2 (3? 4?...) days and stopped. After that several days passed by, and then LUD suddenly changed again and you received an email about the RFE or approval?

3. LUD changed for 2 (3? 4?...) days and stopped. After that several days passed by with no LUD change and no email, and then you received the RFE or approval in the mail?

4. You received the actual RFE or approval letter with no LUD change and no email at all?

Please share TSC infomation. Thank you for sharing!

Similar question,

I submitted my application concurrently through a lawyer (I-140 & I-485 ) at VSC (NIW). How will I know if my I-140 is approved? Does one get a letter at home or does the lawyer receive it? I don't know my case number.

Ask your lawyer to give you a receipt number for both I-140 and I-485. With these numbers, you will be able to register on CIS website and track your cases yourself. Or, you can call CIS and find out your numbers, but this is more complicated. Your lawyer should give you your numbers.

Sometimes LUD may change for nothing without email notification. It may be an indication that some kind of work is going on on your case (maybe a transfer to other department along the line or something). So I would just relax and wait. My I-485's LUD got changed a week after submission. I suspected this change was for FP notice, but I did not receive anything, and I called CIS 1 month or so after this change to verify whether FP notice was issued. They told me no.
If they issue a RFE, my understanding is that this LUD change will trigger an immediate email notification, and online status for your case should also change indicating RFE. And you will receive an RFE letter by mail shortly. The same is true for approvals.
Normally, online status should change first, and then you get a letter. But I heard that sometimes people receive their letters without any prior online status changes.

Thanks for the reply.

It seems my case did not follow to the "normal" procedure...

More friends please share your RFE or approval story, please
