Hi everybody,
Is there anybody know how to support my parents immigrate to Canada? My husband works in USA in H1B. If I reside in Canada and travel to work in USA can I still support my parents using my income in USA? Any idea? Please help me figure out this issue. Thanks

If you pay your taxes in Canada only. Read on.

I am sponsoring my mother and brother. It is in an advanced stage and maybe she will get it in 3-4 months.

there are 2 stages to sponsoring your parents:

1) you have to prove that you are financially capable. This is called the financial evaluation stage.

2) If you pass (1), your parents then apply for imiigration in the Family class, with you as the sponsor.

One of the documents the Immigration Canada wants in the First step is your tax returns for the prev year. they may also require all the salary slips for the current year and total earned this year (i.e. the income for which you will pay taxes next year). this for them is the surest way of finding if a person actaully resides in Canada.

Let me know if you have more questions.

How about I reside in Canada and travel to work in USA everyday?

Think you for you reply. How about I physically reside in Canada and travel to work in USA everyday? I can provide rental document to indicate I am physically in Canada. Is that OK? I am a nurse, I think I can find a job in border town and commute to work everyday. But I am not sure if it is ok for me to sponsor my parents.
Thanks.

I think you would need some sort of Tax document...

Other than that only a lawyer would be able to tell you if any other way is there.

Canadian Immig would give residentship to only someone who pays the taxes in Canada. The basic assumtion is if you want all the things like free healthcare, welfare etc... in Canada you have to pay taxes.

But check with a lawyer, if you have landed status, there might be a way.
