If you atleast have your EAD, there will be a A# on it. Call 802-527-4913 Select the option to talk to an IIO. Give them your A# and ask for status. I do not know whether the automated system can tell your case status using A#.

This is a good suggestion, but you should also be trying to get the required information from your lawyer. Your lawyer (actually) has no right to withold that kind of information from you. Theoretically, the I-485 is YOUR petition and even your employer cannot have a real say over it....
