How accurate is USCIS website?

All the DOs are showing Nov. 12 2006 as the N400 timeline.. Is this some accurate information? I checked 20 different DOs all around the nation..

I have posted quite a few times about this. That processing time is their target goal. Many district offices are doing better than their target. The only way to find out accurate processing time is following your district office thread. If there is none, then it is difficult to gauge the processing time, but it should be as good or better than the time shown in the site.

The Dallas DO is showing March 2007 for N-600s. We received notice for my daughters a few weeks ago. We filed in mid to late June 2006. There's nothing like name check to get in the way of an N-600 (that I know of).

At least stopped clocks are right twice a day - when the USCIS is right, it is purely accidental.

Just popped in and saw your sig. Best of luck on your upcoming interview! Looks like next week huh?

Timeline is clearly misleading. You can however use it as a reason for asking questions re status of your case if you passed it. The problem is that USCIS also knows that it is inaccurate, so they will be first to admit it in an attempt not to do any additional inquiries into your case (you are within "normal processing times, Sir" --- i.e. from 6 months to a year). I am sure they have these discussions with people on an hourly basis:

-- N-400 Filer: I passed the processing times posted on your website by a day,
-- USCIS Customer Service Information Officer (not to be confused with Immigration Officer): The processing times posted on our website are averages and do not reflect specific facts of your case. You are within our normal processing times. Please call us back in 90 days if you do not hear anything.
-- N-400 Filer: Thank you, it was not very helpful.

FOr most of the time, the actual processing date is very much ahead of the date on the website but a few people are stuck for unknown reasons. So it does not give a very clear picture.

Hi Mario123,

Thanks for your good wishes. Yes, exactly one week from now. Life, or at least the interview is coming fast at me. I can't believe I almost forgot about taking another couple of passport pictures. I got this done on Sunday. Still reading the questions. I pretty much have all of them studied, just need to work a bit more on the 13 states. I am leaving this 'til the end to have it fresh :)

To remember, you can figuratively follow the Eastern Seaboard, omitting the Northernmost (Maine) and the Southernmost (Florida), from North to South:
1 New Hampshire
2 Massachusetts
3 Rhode Island
4 Connecticut
5 New York
6 New Jersey
7 Pennsylvania (Oops, it is not on the shore)
8 Delaware
9 Maryland
10 Virginia
11 North Carolina
12 South Carolina
13 Georgia

Hi McMahon,

I don't want to hijack the thread ;) Thanks for the advice. I am sure it works better for people in the east coast than for people like me from the west coast ;) The approach I have taken is to learn them the way they are in the flash cards, in groups of four except the last group of five.

I aM
