Can anyone tell me how this transfer thing works? On Apr. 29, I got an email notification from USCIS online that my case has been given to the local office and it takes serveral months for an interview to be scheduled. My FPs have been expired a month of so ago too.

Is there anyone else in similar boat? Please post your experiences/thoughts.

Thanks!

Cases dropped to another black hole

I have seen several cases which were transferred to Houston office. My case was also transferred to Houston in March 2004. I went to Houston district office after my case was transferred. The guy at the front desk was very rude. He even didn't ask my case number, he told me that my case would not be touched in one year. I have not seen any case called for interview from Houston Office on this website recently. We should call everyone whose case was transferred to Houston Office to contact Congressmen/Senators to accelerate the process.

WNBA/FreedomToMe what are your RDs and NDs?

Thanks!

And yes please do keep in touch. My email is Naved_Husain on Yahoo.Com.

My ND/RD is Aug 2002.

I read a Houston Chronicle today and thought that Houston district had put their all IIO to find out "sham marriage" for last few months and no processing for I485, which caused Houston processing time did not change for last 5 months. Please read page 1 of Houston Chronicle. I hope processing will be fast after their big job.

My case was transfered to Housto office in March of this year and I have not heard a thing. Let's keep each other updated.

My ND : Nov. 01,
FP: May 03.

ffidx,

I think you are in front of final decision because your ND already passed Houston processing time and FP last year. Did you contact with Houston IIO?

My lawyer told me that I should receive my notice within 6 months from the transfer date.
I have not checked with Houston IIO yet since I am so used to long wait.

My lawyer told me around the summer too. I was transfered to Houston Office in January, so maybe the six months after transfer prediction is correct.

I-485 ND 09/02
Transfered 01/04
EAD1 11/03
EAD2 02/04
FP1 04/04

Hi, guys,

This is my 1st post here. Same as you, my case was transferred on April 20th, and nothing has happened since then. My FP will expire soon, I wonder how to request the 2nd FP notice from the local office, or maybe just wait for being arranged by them?

ND:Feb/2002
FP:Apr/2003

nhusain,

I'm sorry you have a FP notice instead of "APPROVAL NOTICE".
Did you receive RFE together with FP notice?

Folks,

Just FYI: I just got my FP renewal notice as I have done my 1st FP in Jan. 03.

soyiyte,

I went to the Houston district and dropped "status inquiry" writing to ask FP.
You may have a blank status inquiry at the first window after you explain your situation. Nobody know this requisition expedite the processing but I think it is worth to do that if you want to get green card earlier.

I hear it takes six months after the transfer of a I-485 case for a result, also, I hear that it takes three months after the fingerprints.
Put your transfer date (Apr29) plus 6 months is October.
Put your FP date (in about three weeks) plus 6 months is also October.

I think that you are on the right track. At least you know that there is something happening.
This is my personal opinion, I am not an expert but I just like to see the good side of things.
Good luck to us all.

freedomtome,

Thanks a lot for your info. I will go to the office too. I also want to check if my file has been received by them or not.

Do I need to go there in the very early morning to get to talk to the officers?

soyiyte,

You should go there before 6 am to get a number (earlier is better but it's very unpleasent to wake up early for this kind of matter) but I worry first window IIO who give a number do not allow you to meet IIO if you have only simple status check. I met a IIO because of AP matter and asked my status at the same time.

Goo luck to you.

My lawyer told me that he is going to contact AILA to reschedule my FP renewal... so at this time I do not know whether Houston local office actually opened my file and send me the renewal notice or AILA did something behind the scene.

I do not know when this tiresome journey will end... these days I am worrying about my 4th EAD renewal.

Please keep in touch, thanks!

freedomtome and nhusain,

Thanks a lot! Again, I guess it is a "black box" thing. No one knows exactly what is going on over there.

By the way, is there anything we can do now to prepare for the interview because I notice sometimes there are only a few days left after receiving the notice.

What kinds of cases are you guys in? I am a EB-2-NIW.
