The link is a bit old--the bill already passed, and may become a law as soon as tomorrow.

What is happening to this country?

Nothing unusual is happening....why do you make such a big deal out of it...if you come to this country to be involved in terrorist activites...what do you expect...just because u have a green card...you will be treated differently?!
Terrorist are terrorists and as such they should be striped of not only green card but also citizenship.

The poor quality of the service USCIS offers to asylees or other categories of applicants is a different story.

Even before this bill if you were designated an enemy combatant, its not like a red carpet would have been laid in front of you....

:) Agreed. But my point was that this bill strips away the right to defend oneself in a court of law.

Why would someone want their rights being protected while they are not protecting other's rights? When it comes to enemy combatant, there is more than greencard and citizenship at stake. The lives of the enemy combantant as well as the lives of many are at stake.

From my personal experience, the American system of justice and government are the most fairest in the world states today. Even though we may point to flaws and injustices in the system, still the system remains the most just in the world today. All need is be just person in all manners and to all people, regardless, and you are safe regardless of your status, but if you want to get an apportunity to kill people, then you will have more to worry...

Just expressing my opinion...

old arguments

I've heard the same arguments for this bill - especially the use of torture and the ability of government to keep someone in jail without trials - used by dictatorships last century, in south america - where i'm from...

what if you're innocent ???

my friends ... I just don't know what the future holds 4 this country ....
