Reading this forum is like reading something on WebMD.Com, Yu end up having all kind of desease. .. and it s a major headache at the end...

Here s my story.
I dont use any attorney, i read, look online, check 'thrice'.

I applied for a green card on April 2001. After reading and asking questions to my local Greenville SC immigration office, I learned i had to apply for a labor certification prior to an application to a green card. I did it, unfortunately too late, the application arrived at SC employment DOL after April 30 2001 (May 11 2001 to be exact). Some law changed on April 30th 2001, and for some reason i dont really care about, the DOLs all over the US got a HUGE backlog of applications before this april 30th 2001 date. Lady from DOL in SC told me that it would take 3 years to go thru all the applications. I received a letter from them with my case number.
Checking on their website, renewing my H1b visa ( twice), calling them from time to time to check on their processing time... I called this 2nd of january 2005 and the lady told me that the Case received before January 2003 were sent to the Philly BEC. She also said something like cases after january 2003 are processed at the SC DOL but not opened then sent to Philly by March 2005. December 2004 was the date when all the US employment offices had to transfert their pending cases to philly and other places.
So far so good... my application has been transfered to Philly at the end of december 2004, as it was supposed to. I had my hand on a DOL notice for the PERM / BEC process and everything went well as planned.
Regarding the letter, the nice lady from the DOL told me that she didn t know if they gonna send a letter or not. After reading around, turns out there is such a thing as a letter sent by BEC (i read report on it but nothing official yet). THe lady also told me that a processing date for BEC will be online probably by March 2005 on the doleta website when all the backlog will be received ny BEC (which sounds logical)
So far no letter but i still have a case number in case there s a problem.
I ve been waiting 4 years for it, and it finally started to move. Just relax people, don t read everything and anything. For those with lawyers, maybe yu should try to do some research on yur own. Yu should contact the lawyer to check on him, not to ask him to check on things. Especailly at the beginning when even officials dont know what s going on. For those without attorney, well i hope this story will help them relate to their problems.

It s not really a question of being patient or not. It s all about knowing where this is going. ANd the only way to know is to read and make some research. Having an attorney or not does not change anything. Then there is this NO-EXPEDITE policy. Attorneys can tell yu what they want (or what yu want to hear for 10 000 dollars), but there is no way to expedite the process. Look at the scandal in the new about the senator or something that accelerate the immigration process of his maid ! If an official cannot do it, an attorney can t either.
The key is to be sure that yu are prepared when something happens.
The other thing is that I try to keep myself from reading those forums where everything and nothing is said. Everyone has their own particular case and trying to identify us to their particular case isn t going to help. THis is the reason why i decided to post my story, because it s a straightforward story without any complication, very by-the-book way to go. I am sure there will be a complication soon ;) but Let see where this is going

I'm In the same boat with you. My PD IS July,2001,RIR. Because the backlog of 245i, my state didn't handle any case for almost 1.5 years. My case transferred to DOL on Jan,2003. I got the 45 day letter and also replied. But during this period my company filed another case in different State. But I don't know if this case transferred to BRC or not. I will use up my 6 year h1. I don't know what will happen next.
