Honduran Friend

I have a Honduran friend that "immigrated" illegally to the US seven years ago across the Mexican border. He has worked two jobs since arriving here, but has no legitamate work history since the jobs have been "under the table". He has had no trouble with the law and has an American girlfriend who is interested in marrying him. My questions are: What options does he now have for obtaining legal status in the United States? What are the current laws regarding an illegal marrying a US citizen? Please help!

Joef,

Thanks for the response. I know that there are certain cities within the US that will marry an illegal with a US citizen. Do you know what this would do to the illegal's status?

Here's another one: What if the illegal went back to Honduras, and the US citizen went to Honduras and married him there?

Thanks for your help!

different scenario

I've a friend in Honduras. She came to US on F-1, fell in love with a citizen. They both went to Honduras and got married, before the VISA expired. Then, he tried to get her into US illegally, to avoid lengthy processing delays. Both were caught at the border. He was allowed to come back, but she was banned for LIFE. They ended up taking divorce. Is there any chance at all, however improbable it is, for her to visit/live in/work in (of course, legally!) US?
