Over the work shut down during the last few days of 2002, I had a chance to speak to a old veteran of the GC process and he mentioned how things were in the gool ol' days..almost nostalgically..
Labor and I-140 was uneventful.
Most people had interviews during the I-485 period. He was interviewed in June 1996 and almost immideately there was a freeze on approvals and INS had no system of keeping track of how many people had been granted PR. It took them almost a year to get a proper count and start approving. Looks like they HAD appoved in excess of what was permissible per law. At that time also, there was no official acknowledgement from the INS.
He got approved in July 1997. Now he has filed for citizenship and as his luck would have it it is freeze time again.
Wonder if I will ever be able to talk about the good ole days of 2001/2 freeze in a likewise manner.
Wishing you all a very happy and prosperous and Green New Year.
