Counsellor

Hello I am a Canadian citizen (British by birth). My highest degree is a Master of Education in counselling psyc. from an accredited university in Canada. I also have my teaching certification from British Columbia and as such with an academic equivalency completed in the near future, I will be inline for the state where I am going to (school) Teaching Certification. The role I am playing in th eschools requires the Master of Education in counselling psy. to be a school counsellor. .
Okay, recently I was offered, and I accepted, a job as a school counsellor in Alaska and the school district is applying for an H1B visa for me. Assuming all goes well and I can work there this August, I would like to apply for a Green Card so that I can settle in the States rather than moving again. I have read through the website and appreciate your information. Thank you. I have a few questions: 1) With my HIB visa can I apply for the Green Card when I get to Alaska?
2) If so, where are the forms? I can't seem to find them on the net for downloading.
3)Does my employer have to apply or can I?
4) Will I /my employer need to satisfy the Labor Cettification requirement ensuring the position has been adequately advertised, being as that is a requirement for the H1B being issued at the moment? I guess I am askign if tht process has to be redone?
4) How long can I expect the Green Card to be processed given that I would already have the H1B, be working and be in the US at the time of applicaiton?
5) And, generally speaking, is it easier to receive a Green Card once one is in the States on an H1B than it is applying without any visa from outside? Is it just more or less a case of transfering the visa from H1B- EB2 Green Card once one is in the US or is the process from H1B to Green Card just as lengthy like starting over almost?
Thank you so much for your help and do email if you have answers to any of these questions. Regards S.
