I have received my 3rd EAD renewal which starts with the expiry date of the previous one. However, many people in this baord received renewal EAD with approval start date rather than previous expiry date.

I am just worried to file my EAD. It is getting expried in Dec.2003 and if I file now and I got the new EAD with the approval date, I will be loosing 6 months. Please suggest guys.....

Shall I wait for some more months and file.....

You probably wait untill sept, 2003. File when 90 days remaining on your existing EAD. Now a days TSC is very fast on EAD. I lost 3 months because of immediate approval.

As ML_2001 pointed out, it seems like there is some amount of risk that the new start date could be the approval date. However, my second EAD had the start date was one day after the expiry of the first one. Eventhough my 2nd EAD expires only in Nov. 2003, I have already applied for renewal today hoping they would do the same. I had to apply for AP renewal anyways. So I did both at the same time. If we go by the current speed, I will be able to let you know my experience in a few weeks :D

Best thing in this situation is to apply before 90 days. In case you do not get approved, can go to the local center and get an IEAD.
In case you get approved, you get approved around 2.5 months earlier.

This appears to be the safest and most logical approach to this problem.. Good luck guys.

This makes the forum difficult to browse. It would be helpful to everybody if the Subject can be made meaningful.

You never kown what kind of rules they follow. My wife and I applied EAD back in 2001 and got approved at same time 8/23/01. We did the renewal same time again. Hers starts from the expire date of the former one, mine starts from the approval date. We Just got the third EAD. Same thing happened again. I lost three months in total during two EAD renewal. My wife's still starts from the original date 8/23.
