Hi Stamping Options Canada/chennai

Hello Folks

This is my current situation. I came to the US in 1998 on a F1 and started working in 2000 on a H1. I changed jobs in 2002 so got a new H1. My first period of H1 expires this june and I will get a H1 extension for the next 1 1/2 years after that. So all this while I have never travelled outside the country . So the stamping on my passport is still F1. I am planning to go to India (chennai) in August after I get my visa renewed in June.

My questions are

  • Is it safe for me to go to Canada or Chennai to get my stamping done.

  • I have pretty much all the documents. I work as a consultant working on various project with different clients. So do I need to mention the clients that I have worked with or should it be just my parent company.

  • My company has applied for a normal processing for my H1 renewal this january. How long does it take for me get it (approx.) or should I need to get it done thru' premium processing if I have to go in August

  • Assume I get my H1 visa renewal notice approved before my current one expires , can I go for the stamping ? If yes, which one of the periods would I be stamped for.

I guess every case is unique and one shouldn't come to any conclusions from the success or failure of others

For revalidation, at the time of interview, only the letter from your employer is required

If your employer is willing to spend the extra money on you, then go for premium. Mine did. Otherwise, normal processing is 90 days or more!
