hi,
i am a student having recently arrived on f-1 visa to pursue a masters course in a university. but now i have got a lucrative job offer from an employer who is willing to sponsor me for an H-1 B VISA. i have the following queries in this regard:

1 IS IT POSSIBLE FOR CONVERSION OF STATUS FROM F-1 TO H-1 in such a short period of time or will it be a violation of my staus as on a f-1 visa?

2 what is the least minimum time for one to be on a f-1 visa to be able to convert to a h-1 b visa?

3 is it necessary for me to first complete my masters course and then think for conversion to a h-1 b visa.?

as per my understanding as my f-1 visa is towards a masters degree it should be possible for me to get a H-1 b on the basis of my bachelors degree.

I WILLL BE HIGHLY OBLIGED IF YOU COULD ANSWER MY QUERY AT THE EARLIEST

REGARDS

Merely applying for an H1 from F1 will not violate your status. Yes there are cases where F1 have converted to H1.

Depends on the INS center you have sent application and if you used premium processing.

Completing masters is not a requirement for H1, some times they do ask for 4 years bachelor and relevant experience from 2 to 5 years. Depends on your specific case.

thanks

thanks wishkid for the early reply ,can you also help me with the following:

is 2-5 years experience a mandatory requirement or can it be waived off with a strong recommendation from the employer.

what one does during the transition phase after having apllied for an h-1 and not got it.? as you would have to surrender your f-1 also at the time of apllying then what remains of your status during this transition phase?

thanks a lot..:)
