Completing 2 years of marriage would give you a 10-year green card when your adjustment of status is approved, whereas less than 2 years of marriage would result in a 2-year conditional card which will require another round of hefty paperwork and expenses when it is about to expire.
You don't need to complete the 2 years of marriage before you file the green card paperwork; filing with 1 year and 10 months of marriage would ensure that the interview is after your 2-year anniversary, because the interview will not happen in less than 2 months.
Be aware that once you file for adjustment of status, you won't be able to use your F1 visa again to enter the US; you will need Advance Parole or the green card itself.
