I know this forum deals with GC issues. The reason why I raise this question here is because I have been very impressed with JoeF and you other guys.

Here is my question:

R. came more than 8 years ago, as a minor, legally to the U.S. from somewhere in Central America.

He overstayed his visitor visa. He graduated from High School and Community College. He has never been convicted of a crime.

R. is planning on getting married to a U.S. citizen. What is the procedure? Will INS "pardon" him? What forms does R. need to file?

Is it imperative to go through an immigration attorney? What are his options?

Does anyone know anything about this stuff?
 
Search the net for something called the DREAM act. I think the person in question can become legalized and get his LPR status if and when the DREAM act becomes a law.
