Hi,
  My friend got her GC recently. She got her GC thru her husband. Both were on H1 before. They wanted to take divorce now. Her husband wants to leave this country and loose GC. But She wants to stay here. Now, does she loose her GC or is she still have it?? Help please...

Thanks a lot...And one more question is that possible if she wants to go out of country more than a year with out loosing her permanent residency.
 
Special case

It is normally required that a GC holder stay in the US for a specific period every year to retain the GC. But it is possible to get permission for special ocassion. I was also told that everyone is given a permission once, without any special reason. But please verify that.
