Do you know if the passorts are being stamped when we travel to Canada from US and from US to Canada. People who have already crossed the border please post their experience. This would be a great help to me to travel both the ways as I am planning to go Canada in November.

Thanks

Kishore30,

Depending on how you travel. If you drive, no stamp. If you fly you get a stamp in your passport.

Good Luck!!

vault,

So, if i go by bus to CANADA from US i will not get a stamp on my passport right? or from CANADA to US ? Please clarify

1. If you are going to LAND then you will get stamp in your passport, at border or at Airport.
2.If you are landed immigrant then if you go by Bus or car by border post you will not get your passport Stamp, if you go by air you will get a Stamp.
3. If you are returning to US from Canada same as above, border post by car or Bus NO Stamp, by Air you get Stamp.
By Train? I do not know

Is new landed immigrant stamp is enough to travel between US and canada.without getting PR CARD. AS NEW PR TAKES 4 WEEKS.
i WANT TO LAND SOON AND AFTER 4 DAYS WANT TO COME BACK US.THEN AFTER ONE MONTH WHEN CARD WILL COME, I WILL GO THERE.iS IT POSSIBLE FOR NEW IMMIGRANT TO TRAVEL WITHOUT PR CARD OR NOT?

THANX IN ADVANCE

malik,

As far as i know you can travel canada from US with your landing papers. These landing papers can be used for travel until Dec 2003. You can go to Canada and apply for PR Card and can come back to US. We are also in the same situation. Do you have any status in US or not? If you are going to Canada please post your boarder experience as well as applying PR Card experience...

Thankx

hmmalik,

If you are on a h1 visa, I do not foresee any problems coming back to US. (Drive if possible. This is the only way you can avoid a stamp in your passport).

However, I have seen from previous posts (akhilhere) that upon your landing in CAN, CIC folks mark your IMM1000 as not valid for travel. I am not sure if it is true.

Maybe some one else could answer my question.

Good luck!!
