I currently reside in USA but I have overstayed my F-1 visa by 5+ years, therefore illegal. I also worked illegally during that time but I have paid all taxes, obtained RN degree and stayed out of trouble. My wife of two years is a PHD student in Ontario. I can't use my RN degree here therefore I have no work experience in that field. How can I get a permit to move to Canada? I was advised by lawyer to apply for open spousal work permit but I was denied on the grounds of overstaying in US. He now advises to reapply($$$$$). What should i do? Please help!
