This year my application for h1b got rejected.
Reason being:
I dont have a last name in my passport.My passport has first name as
<Divya> and Last name field is left Blank.All my educational documents has no last name.
Now my H4 was issued with <FNU Divya>.FNU stands for First Name Unknown.
Pls refer to following mail for it:
Dear Sir/Mam
This is to bring to your kind notice that if the applicant does not have a surname, as per the rule he should enter FNU ( FIRST NAME UNAVAILABLE )in first name and his actual name will be treated as his surname.

My employer while filling petition I-129 filled the applicant name as <Divya> instead of FNU Divya.
My application came back with hand written note(when they found this mismatch in H4 and applicant name) and by the time we applied again ,the quota was already full.
Now we are planning to get last name endorsed in my passport so that we dont face any problem while applying for H1b in next year quota.
But this way I will have three names now.
My question is
What will I fill in applicant name now for H1B?Do I need to carry both the
passports evertime?How will they treat the mismatch of applicant name in my educational documents,my passport and my H4 visa?
Is it going to increase my problems?
Did anyone of you gone through the similar situation?
Any fast help would be appreciated.
