I sent my passport to
St. Louis for my stamping (h-1b). It\'s been 7weeks. No trace of it. Now I need to file my I-485. Can I submit photocopy of the passport which I took before I sent to St. Louis OR do i need to wait till I receive my passport.

Appreciate your response on this.

If your passport old copies show H1 stamp which is valid till VSC receives your 485 application and sends you a receipt, then no problem. Otherwise, when VSC is processing your 485, if they notice that your H1 expired before you filed 485, then they will send an RFE asking you to prove that you had a valid status while applying for 485. So it is upto you to either wait now and send updated photocopies or get in the 485 queue and answer queries later.
