Help: Won the lottery, will be visiting the US next month

Yesterday I was notified that I had been selected for the DV lottery program (Asia). I'm currently filling out the necessary forms to mail. I have a couple of questions I wanted some help with:

1. Do I need to notify the local US embassy of my winning?

2. How long do you presume it takes for the KCC to review and approve your documents, followed by scheduling you an interview at your local embassy? How long does it usually take them to send a response?

3. Next month I'll be visiting the US on vacation with my family (my direct DV-related family). Would that affect my chances of obtaining a confirmation from the KCC? Can the procedure be easier from the US?

4. Important: me and my wife have visited the US on countless occasions (she was a flight attendant), should I actually reminisce every single visit I've ever made and depict it in the form? Is a general explanation appropriate instead?

congrats! and welcome.
it will be helpful if you can post your cn# so that we'll know whether you have a low or high cn. your cn will determine when you will be processed and called for interview and granted the gc. based on past years' visa bulletins you will be able to estimate your current date from your cn. i will also advise you as we always advise new forumers to read past threads - 2010 threads and 2009 threads. it will also benefit you to join in the 2011 dv asia and other 2011 winners threads. there are a lot of info provided by posters on their experiences that you can learn and benefit from.
now some answers to your q's ...

1. no
2. submit your ds122, 230, photographs to kcc. pay dos fee $375 per person. interview will depend on your cn being current. read the 2010 threads for procedures.
3. no - to first question. in order for you to be processed in the us, you will need to be legally present here on a visa. once here and when you are current you will adjust status (aos). but you must have valid reasons to be granted a visa (student, work, business, etc) , a tourist visa is not eligible or visa waivers.
4. i suggest filling up to five years or more if there is space and yes, an explanation will help.

Regarding the dos fee, do I need to send the 375$ per person to the KCC? (it does not appear on the 'instructions for selectees' website), or simply bring it with me to the visa interview?

I'm apprehensive about whether I'd be summoned for an interview while I'm on vacation (1 month long). Could that actually jeopardize my odds of being scheduled an interview? (and obviously any reply from the KCC during that time, June 11th to July 7th, I won't be able to receive since I'm not at my permanent address).

EDIT: I read in your forum autograph that you received your reply from the KCC roughly two months after sending them the initial response, is that correct? (that's what I'm hoping for).

your cn is not too high ... based on an estimate it should be current in april/may 2011.
yes, you need to send in the $375 per person to the dept of state ... i forget the address but it should be on the nl .... i believe it has a missouri address. don't be like me and send it to kcc ... and got it returned ! you will need to fill out the receipt form and also include a self addressed stamped envelope. they will mail you back a stamped paid receipt ... you need this for your interview.
when will your vacation be? u will be current in apr/may 2011.

yes, i opted to do aos, so i received a second nl to state that kcc will no longer be handling my case and uscis will take over.

I'm assuming that you are resident outside the US, am I right?. In that case you must apply to do consular processing or CP. Once you send the completed forms to KCC, you can travel as you like since it is estimated that your interview will most like be next year April. You stated that you want to visit the US next month, if you are worried about travelling after you send in your forms then you may prefer to mail them when you return from your vacation, there's still time but don't delay the return of the forms unnecessarily.
You do not send any money to the KCC, you will pay all fees when you and your family go to the interview in the embassy in your country.
