HI everyone,
trying to fill out the I-864 form but ran into a little snag.
Basically, i and my Husband just got married. Worked in 2005 and made alot on my returns, but a pregnancy in 2006 meant i worked on and off. I Made less than $3000 for that year a two differnet jobs. I spoke to an IRS offical and he said i was not required to file a federal tax return for 2006.
My Husband best friend is his Joint sponser, but i know i also have to fill out an I-864 myself.
Here's the problem....i know i'm supposed to prepare some kind of statement explaining why i am not required to fill, and i know exactly how much i' made but i can't find one of the W2's for that year.
1st W2 = 1247.56
2nd W2 = 1680.40
Total = 2927.96
Do i have to provide the W2's with the statement or just inputing the amount on the I-864 and writing a general statement describing how i made less then the minimum requirement to file would be enough.
Any help would be really appreciated.
