They may send you RFE (request for additiona evidence) if they have reason to require more info on your case. However, this is not mandatory requirement. I noticed the following circumstances as reasons for RFE: Missing info in you I-485 application; Travel outside to US, in particular, if BCIS have reason to believe/suspects that you had travelled (without their prior approval) to your home country; Divorce after I-485; and others.
You never know, BCIS may surprise you, and send you approval very soon. BCIS never apporved cases on FIFO basis (First-In-First-Out).
