HELP: What is my status?

Hi,

I submitted my AOS application in Nov 2008 and at that time I was on a F-1 status. I dropped school since Jan. of this year after I got my EAD and am trying to find a job instead.

What status should I report to the USCIS officer during AOS interview? My I-94 expiration date is: duration of status. But I think since I haven't been to school this semester, I am not in a student status any more. Can anyone help?!

Your current status is based on your pending AOS. The AOS interviewer obviously knows that you filed AOS so they won't ask you what your status is. But if they ask what your status was right before AOS, it would be F-1 (assuming you maintained your student status all the way up until filing the AOS).
 
I see. Thanks! I did maintain my F1 status until my AOS was filed. Hope it won't be a problem that I didn't go to school this semester.
