Hi everyone!! i have a problem! . I am green card holder since 2008. I live in US, together with my Father and 2 brothers. I do have a Driver's license and bank account in US. I left US last APRIL 2008 to go to my home country and finish my DEGREE. Since i cannot stay outside the US more than 1 year. Before I left, I applied for a Re-entry permit which allows a person (green cardholder) to stay outside US not more than 2 years. Which was already approved (my re-entry permit expires on July 2010). So i studied there in my home country until OCTOBER 25, 2009 and went back to US for a week to maintain my Green card status and to prove that I am not abandoning my green card. So i have almost a year left to finish my Degree at my home country, so I left US again last November 3, 2008. So right now my degree is almost done and I'm currently im still here at my home country and now planning to go back to US on September 2010.

To make it simple:

I left US = April 2008; Returned = October 25, 2009 (with re-entry permit)
I left Again US = November 3, 2009; Plan to Return September 2010 ( no more than a year)

My concern now is, does my return in US last October 25, 2009 will reset the validity of 1 year stay outside the US? Since i have had a re-entry permit that already expired last July 2010 but i returned to US just before my re-entry permit expires. Are they still gonna consider the time span of my Re-entry permit or the time i returned to US last October 25, 2009. i want to be ready for the questions might the immigration officers will ask me once i depart US.
I hope you can give me some advice how to convince them that im not abandoning my green card.

I don't have intentions leaving or abandoning my green card. i hope you can help by providing answers to my query.

I need answers Thanks! :)

Bring proof that you were studying abroad (e.g. a recent transcript), to dispel suspicions that you were abroad to work for a foreign employer. And bring your reentry permit (even though it is expired). Only show those documents if you are hassled for spending too much time outside the US.

I don't expect you'll have a problem at the port of entry. Applying for citizenship is when you are more likely to have problems; getting approved for citizenship involves more strict residence criteria than for maintaining the green card.

Thank for the response Jackoliantern by spending your time to answer my query.

so it means i'll don't have problems with my entry to US since i ( 2. I left Again US = November 3, 2009; Plan to Return September 2010 ( no more than a year) ). And number 1 situation will be disregarded. Maybe I can also bring my driver's license to help convince them right?

Thank you so much! :)
