Help regarding asylum!

Hi,
I am looking to apply for political asylum here in the US. I am currently in Chicago, so can anyone tell me of a good lawyer in the Chicago area specialized in asylum cases. I know I can find many immigration lawyers on google, but I would like to get some recommendation based on personal experiences.

Also can anyone tell me how fast is the Chicago processing time for asylum? I have an acquaintance who told me that the asylum process in the arlington, va office happens very fast (less than 60 days from application to result) especially for people living in VA.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Asyseeker, I had interview with Chicago asylum office in 97 but got refused so I have to see the immigration judge. I hired a chinese lawyer, Zhidong Wang for going to the court. We won the case in 99 with conditional grant (due to the cap of 1000) and the office approval of asylum was granted in 2003. Overall I am pretty happy with Zhidong Wang, and I think he knows when and how to do things. Maybe you can contact him and see if you are comfortable with him and his people. As far as the timeline, I do not know the most recent information but I had to wait for over 60 days for my decision back to 98. You can see my timeline below. Good luck. Betty

I would recommend William B. Schiller. He is very good. I got my recommended approval in less than two week and Asylum grant in couple of weeks. He is good. His office is in downtown Chicago.

I have very good experience with Mark Davidson in Chicago from Davidson and Schiller. He did several cases that I know and won all of them. It is not easy to talk to him
(He doesn’t have nice personalities) but you will be well prepare to talk to Immigration Officer
