Help re: medical (I-693)

Hi - I wonder if anyone can help me out here.

My husband is a USC and I'm a Canadian Citizen. We're filing the papers and we would like to know if we can file the I-693 (medical) papers BEFORE we file the rest of the forms (I-485, I-130 etc). If so, then where can I get the list of doctors approved by the USCIS?

Or do I need to just file it concurrently with all the other forms and then will USCIS will send me a list of doctors?

Please help. Thanks

It's probably not helpful to send the I-693 prior to other forms, mainly because they wouldn't know how to file it and probably had a hard time putting those medical results and other forms together. Keep it simple, send it to them all at once.
Some people suggest to attach a cover letter that shows a list of all forms you send in one big envelope.

However, in order to find a civil surgeon designated by USCIS in your area simply use this link http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/exec/cs/index.asp

Your I-693 goes WITH the I-485 package. Not BEFORE, not AFTER.

You visit the civil surgeon for your medical who will issue you a sealed envelope with the I-693, which you will send with your I-485

Thanks, rex1960 and ari4u. That was great help!

Another question! I'm a Canadian Citizen and just want to know how its possible to get the I-94 form - for the departure/arrival record. Its not a downloadable form (that I can see). They usually give the arrival/dep record when you are not a Canadian citizen. Would I need to contact the airport I arrived at in the States for that info or is there some other way to get that info?

Thanks a ton!

Take care.

Why would you file I-693 before the I-485 , File Everything together!

USC fies I-130 / I-864EZ along with beneficiary spouses' I-485/ I-693/I-765

File them in the same package with payment & send VIA Fedex or Priority Mail register return receipt,

I have attached a breakdown of what I filed for my spouse. so far we have had a smooth porcess no RFE's and no delays, Tomorrow we go for our biometrics appt. less than 30 days from the date we filed

Actually I dunno about that, I called USCIS before I filed and they told me NOT to send in the I-693 and that to wait for a notice in the Mail to send it in...thats wierd.

Hi poohsmum, I am curious. So what did you fill out in section pertaining to I-94 in I-130 and I-485 about not having I-94? Was a simple line stating your being a canadian citizen enough?
Thx!!

looking in my papers now...says visitor and thats it..My attorney did it and thats what he filled in and then did a affidavit

You put down "N/A" cause it does not apply for all Canadian Citzens.

yup your right there is also N/A there as well...it also says visitor (expired)
you shouldnt have any problems with that because almost always you just get waved thru at the boarders between us and canada..My mom has gone thru several times to come visit me and the kids and she dont get a I-94 either they just wave her thru and tell her to have a safe trip.

Pl read instructions for I-485. It asks you to send in completed I-693 when filing I-485. USCIS customer support at times have been known to give half baked advise that could make things worse for you rather than help

If you have sent in your forms without the I-693, the next notice you will receive is the RFE asking you to send in your medical.

If you wait to send it in you will have some delays in getting your EAD and your interview trust me I know this...I got my RFE for medical june 26th and just did my medical friday (they wouldnt do TB skin test on frodays so now I head to the health dept tomorrow for that and wait another 2 days for results then fax to dr so he can send me my medical papers) so its gonna be another week before I can send in my I-693 this has put a hold on my case for over a month if you can send it all in NOW dont wait to get a RFE unless delays are not a big issue

Thanks guys!! that does help. Also, does the affidavit which your lawyer attache have anything special to say about (date of entry etc..). I am just thinking, would I need to file one too? She did buy something duty-free and we have the reciept so maybe I need that spelled out...
