i've been a G.C holder for over 8 years now. i intend to send in my application for citizenship, however over the past year, i had two DUI'S , one b/4 i was 21 and the other a month after 21( both misdemeanors).

im concerned my application may be denied since good moral character is a criteria for citizenship.

can anyone please advice me on what to do, or if the DUI'S will affect my application too negatively.

im currently a student, doing my masters in sociology, and i've given up the undergrad partying lifestyle.

any bit of advice will be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

You might want to consult an attorney about this BEFORE sending your application for citizenship. I believe they look really close to the recent 5 years of your history so you might be better off waiting and trying hard to keep your record clean in coming years, and then apply.Repeat DUI definetely does not look attractive, most likely they will ask you for your driving record too.
If you nevertheless decide to give it a try and apply now, you should try to find $1000 and hire the lawyer to go with you on the interview. Also anything that will show your good moral character might be useful: if you financially support any relatives have some paperwork proving this, if you are active in a church, your community or volunteer for non profit organization just ask people from there to write letters about your contribution to society.
But first, your should measure all pros and cons of applying right now with a good attorney. Don't want to scare you away but one of girls I knew was denied her citizenship only with having a single reckless driving record. She got the lawyer after that to appeal...not sure how it all ended.
Good luck!
