Help Please.

Currently I am working in a software comapny wiht H1 visa. But the boad decide to outsource to India. I lost my job yesterday.

My wife has PHD degree and she is doing research in a university as a stuff. Her lawyer told her NIW is very slow and unsafe. So she decided to file labor certificate(case was filed in july.2003 in Boston). It is very slow right now.

Now my wife is going to file I-140, I-485 for NIW EB-2 so that I can get EAD. Is that reasonable to do this?
Can we file EAD application at the same time with I-140 and I-485?
Based on this application how long can I get EAD?

If my wife get the labor certificate later, can she file I-140 and I-485 again? If she can file again. can I apply EAD based on this new I-485?

I have another question. My company will pay me as a part time employee to keep my h1 status until early June.

If I got a job and new employer will sponsor me to transfer h1 or I got EAD before June then everything should be ok. If I can not get that I have to transfer my status to H-4 right?
Can I keep h1 status for a short period after June
