HELP Please! EAD/AP expiration issue

Hi,

Here is my situation ... would Greatly appreciate your suggestions!

I applied for my I-485 in Dec '01.
I received my EAD and AP in January 02 valid till Jan '03

My H-1B expired on Sept 22nd, 2002.
I have started to apply for an extension on the EAD/AP.

I, most likely, will not receive the extension before the current documents expire.

Am I in serious trouble? Will I be out of status?

I have heard that 6 months after applying for I-485, one can change employers. But since I will not have valid documents after Jan '03, can I still do that? (I don't really want to change employers right now, just worried incase I get laid off or something).

I have no idea what my options are.

Which service center you belong to? I've received EAD extension from VSC within 4 weeks (during oct 2002). If you are from Boston metro area, you can go for walk-in EAD extension.

I am from the Philadelphia area, thus VSC. I'll have to check up on the walk-in (if there is one) in this area.
