Help - permanent job and contract job

Hi - All,

I am currently working as a permanent position. But the earnings of my company is not good and our original 20 people development team has been cut-off to 6 people since 1 year ago. Who knows what will happen tommorrow? I am thinking for a stable job now.

Since I am in the process of I-485 and I have no experience on contract job, I have couple questions.
(1) Is permanent job and contract job both OK to me?
(2) For contract job, it seems have W-2, 1099, etc. What is the difference? Whch one is better? Should it affects my I-485 if INS request me Something?
(3) Should the salary be definitely higher than that in LC?

1. Yes if you are having EAD, you can have both jobs.
2. W-2 will be issued if you are an associate and you need to file 1099 if you are an independent contractor. W-2 is better because you need to pay more taxes if you are an independent contractor.
3. Better if it is equal or more.
