Help - Passport validity on reentry

I am a PR, and am planning to travel to my home country in January for a month.

I heard from a friend that on reentry, my passport should be valid for at least 180 days... my passport expires early June.

Can someone familiar with the rules confirm this for me?

That’s correct, although I think the US immigration officials may let you in. It’s typically the airlines that require 6 months validity on your passport.
