I went with my husband to the interview last Friday 4/13. My DO is at Greer, SC. There were few people there, only 1 couple before us.

We were called in by an old man. He's very polite. Since me and my husband do not live together due to my Ph.D program here in SC. He asked a lot of questions like why my husband can't just move to SC and find a job here,... Is it a problem for you that you have a PhD and your husband only got a B.S? I told him it's not a problem at all and it's not easy for him to find a job close to where I live, not much opportunity and I will move to where my husband live next year when I get my degree. Anyway, finally he said he will approve our 130, but he will think about my 485. He said if he need more documents or if I am approved, I will receive further notice.

What does that mean? what should I do now? There's no update online for my cases. I know I can only wait for now. But how long before I should schedule an infopass if I haven't received anything?

Any comment will be helpful.

All you can do right now is wait. I would suggest you should give it at least 30 days before you start thinking about Infopass.

I find it really odd that they would ask whether it was a "problem" if you were more qualified than your husband. Shows up some really sexist values I think. I doubt they would have asked the same question if it were your husband had a PhD and you had the BS. In fact in my case I have a PhD and my wife is still a student studying for her BS and they never asked her if that was a problem for her!

Agree...

Good Dr...

The officer was out of line and sexist in his view of the OP. I hope her case is approved and not denied by the sexist officer...

Chloeguo,

For now... relax and focus on your studies. You should not be worried about the sexist officer, because he has to show probable case for the denial, if he intends to deny the application when you file a Motion To Reopen (MTR).

You situation is not unique because couples leaving apart due to professional or education pursuit are common in the US. :) The officer needs to understands that young couples are interested in bettering their lives and enjoying their spouses....:D

Thank you all so much for the kind reply. I will wait.

I guess I was just too confused and overwhelmed to think clearly.
