I am planning to leave U.S and head back home to India for good. Unfortunately I seem to have lost the original H1B I had (my H1B is valid till June 2004 and my employer has not cancelled it). I do have a copy of my H1B with me. Will I have problems at U.S Immigration because I don't have the I-94 that comes with the H1B visa ? I have heard conflicting versions from my friends -some say that it a valid I-94 is helpful for re-entry and not required if you have no plans of coming back and others are saying that I will need to surrender my I-94 before I leave the U.S and hence I do need my original H1B visa.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have only a week left to leave.
