Hi everyone!!
Hope you having a good day. I have a very difficult situation and I was hoping someone can help me out with few questions. I have a political asylum interview on the 27th of December and I'm very nervous!! I have been waiting for this day for the past 7 months thanks to my incompetent lawyer. He fed me promises for the past 6 months. He was supose to send my application form in September but he only did it in the beginning of November. Today he told me that it will be a good idea if we will move the interview for a different date. He based this on the reason that its holidays and the getting a nice interview officer will be very hard, aka people will be pissed of that they have to work two days after Christmas. I dont know what to do ( I cant wait any longer, however he does not listen to me. I know my case however I have no idea how the interview will go and what sort of questions will be asked. My sister, who went through this 5 years ago, told me that we should let the lawyer go and just do it by ourselves. What do you think?? Anyone, please. Any adivce will be very appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance!

if you think he is giving you the run around fire his behind. i did it without a lawyer and i won the case. Just be confident, maintain a good eye contact with the judge or officer. tell the truth and don't lie, take your paperwork and any evidence you may need and make 2 copies. Remember you represent yourself so make sure you make an extra copy for every piece of document you submit to the judge ( if your case in court) you also have to hand it to the CIS attorney.
you should practice being a lawyer and make a good senario with somebody before going. Don't Volunteer answers, your answers should be short and to the point unless you are being asked for more details. Finally don't be nervous you should rather be sitting still and don't move too much it's a sign of somebody who is not telling the truth.
Remember it's your case and you know about it more than the lawyer.

good luck

Thanks for your answer. Just a question: what sort of questions do they ask during the interview?? how scary is it?? and how lond is an average interview?? Thanks in advance.

that all depends on your case, but the CIS attorney does their best to intimidate you and surprise you with unexpected questions regarding your case. the good news is the judge is on no one's side so relax and don't be scared, trust me the CIS attorney will eventually back off of you when they see you prepared and confident, just make sure you make them uncomfortable and speechless (within respect) like i did. their only job is to proof you are not telling the truth and deport you. but don't let this happen. you go there to win.

good luck
