My lawer is demanding around $2000 for renewal for AP and EAD for me and my wife. This fee includes his fee and processing fee. Is this expensive ? Do u guys have any idea ?

Can we renew AP and EAD, without using lawer? Is it going to be risky if we can do by ourselves. Please let me know how does this work.

Thanks in advance.

You can apply for your EAD and AP renewal yourself. EAD application is very simple so is AP application.

In fact I applied for my wife's EAD and received without any trouble. (I did get an RFE asking for photo id. I replied for the RFE and EAD was approved).

If you have the copies of your initial applications you can just fill the renewal applications based on the initial applicaitons.

I'm sure your lawyer would have sent you the initial applications for your signatures while applying your EAD and AP first time.

If you have any questions while filling the applicaitons you can post them on the fourum and I'm sure your questions will be answered by lot of members.

See this post to do it online

There's also a link to apply for the AP.

If I were you, I'd find another lawyer. My lawyer asked for $300 which covered both EAD and AP (for my entire family). He is a good guy with good immigration knowledge. I didn't mind paying $300 just to keep him happy. (He knows that I know I can apply it online). Just FYI, I paid $1525 for these:
1) renewal of EADs for me and wife
2) renewal of APs for 3 of us
3) H1 extension for me + H4 extension for daughter.
1525 covers all fees USCIS and Lawyers. So, $2000 is pretty steep.
