Hi, Everyone,

When I submitted my AOS application based on marriage this May, my wife is my petitioner and also sponsor in 864 form. Since her income was enough, I did not put myself as a joint sponsor.

Right now our interview date is close. My wife decided quit her job and go back school to finish her MBA degree. So Do I have to fill out another 864 form on which I am the sponsor of myself? I check out the new 864 form on uscis website and I am confused.

On new 864 form, part 3
10. Enter the total number of immigrants you are sponsoring on this form from Part 3, Items 8 and 9.
I believe here I should put in "1"

in Part 5
Your Household Size - DO NOT COUNT ANYONE TWICE
Part 5. Sponsor's household size.
a. Enter the number you entered on line 10.
Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit:
b. Yourself.
c. If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse.

it will make my final housize a+b+c=1+1+1=3 which is obviously wrong.

Do I use the wrong form? Anyone who sponsor him/herself know how to do this? Any suggestion is welcome. Thanks a lot.

CORRECT

in Part 5
Part 5. Sponsor's household size.
a. Enter the number you entered on line 10.
Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit:
b. Yourself.
c. If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse.

1+1=2 (since you are the one being sponsored "c" does not apply to you), so the total household is 2 people

Thanks for reply. I am getting more and more confused now.

So right now I am the sponsor of myself. So in 864 part-1 I choose "I am the only joint sponsor", correct? But it looks like joint sponsor has to be citizen or permanent resident. Apparently I am not. Anyone can explain this?

Since I am the joint-sponsor, do I have to fill out 864A?

Thanks.
