The CSC is now asking for 1040 and schedules and attachments for the last 3 years. The IRS website mentions a

- 60 day turn around for actual tax record copy

1.DO you guys know which one is expected by the USCIS

2. I am filling out form 4506T and need some confirmation :

Filling out the

Line item 6...what should i put for the enter return number and check the box below

Also for Line item 7 : What should i put for the dates requested ...i have them listed as :

12/31/00 thru 12/31/03

In line #6, write "1040".

In line #7, provide the last day (31 dec) of tax year. (you already did that)

Did they ask for "stamped copy of tax returns"? If not, you don't need to get a copy of tax return from IRS. You can provide the copy of tax return (provided you have them).

I guess either case transcripts should be good enough because that contains almost all the information for your returns. For RFE reply, send all the pages that you received from IRS including the front page that contains a signature of IRS employee who issued transcripts.

Pralay,

Did you go thru a similar experience ?. How long does it take to get the transcript response from IRS ?. I am thinking of faxing teh request in ?. Is there any way of verifying whether the fax request went thru ?.

Two years back I requested trancripts once. I faxed the request form and received the transcripts after three weeks. I don't think there any way to verify that the request went thru. If the fax goes thru, you just have to assume it. If you feel that's not good enough for you, you can fax + mail your request. There is no harm in requesting twice (probably you will get two set of transcripts). In fact, if you get RFE it would be safer to fax/mail request multiple times. We all know how IRS works (!!).
I did not go thru similar experience. My transript request was not related to green card application or immigration.
This kind RFE for stamped copy of return is new thing for me. I never heard that before. But recently I saw in this forum, USCIS is asking for stamped copies (probably they do not trust our tax return copies anymore). I haven't seen any "IRS stamp" on transcripts. But the front page has a signature of the issuing IRS empoyee. My guess is that if USCIS does not trust the copies of our tax returns, atleast these transcripts should be trustworty enough and they are as good as "stamped copies".
