The national interest RFE comes up quite often. Just read through the many different thread and you will get a good idea what is necessary for your NIW. You might start here:

Friends, this question is ironic in a good way. I came back after a two week vacation and had a brief chat with a post doc in my department, He had a similar RFE. Some grants from one of our chairs study section had been subcontracted to him for review (about 10-12 grants) with the written permission of the study section and the funding agency. He got a letter on official letterhead from some bigshot in that agency thanking him for his efforts. His lawyer added a copy of that letter to the RFE response and it got approved within a few weeks. just food for thought about what kind of material helps in such cases.
