Sorry I ask this question in the wrong forum  – If somebody could share his/her experience about this, I really appreciate it. Thank you in advance…

I am a GC holder. My parents have visitor visa that still valid until next 5 years in their passport, and plan to visit us in August.

Can they travel to Canada or Mexico or any other countries from US, and come back to US again?
Has anybody ever done that?
Will Immigration officers at the airport give them hard time?
They will get new I-94 – will new I-94 be valid for another 6 months?

Please share your experience with us…THANK YOU!!! :D :D

Other than US Visa, your parents need visa to Mexico. I know for Canada US visa is valid (I really don't know if that has changed lately) But for Mexico they need to have a Mexican Visa. This all depends on the country they are from. See, I'm from Colombia South America and I need visitors visa approved from the country I'm visiting Always! On the other hand, my husband has Swiss passport and can enter any country he likes on visa waiver program (lucky him). You can call mexican or canadian consulate for this info or search the internet engines. Your parents will get a new I-94 upon arrival to the US. I can't assure you for other 6 months, because sometimes it depends on the officer at customs. Hope I gave you some help.

Yes!They can travel to other countries!

tsar,
Your parents will have no problem exiting the US and returning as long as they have visitor's visas to enter the visiting country.I agree with 'mvusa.' I have a Greek passport and my husband has a British passport. When we visited Mexico, I obtained a visitor's visa and he did not have to. If your parents want to stay in USA longer than 6 months that their tourist visas permit, they could fly or drive to Canada and return. Once they are back, they will receive a new I-94 for another 6 months! (my parents did that 2 years ago and did not have a problem at all!)

I would urge caution here! POE officer has descretion to allow or not and also the length of the duration for each visit. Not going back to home country but visiting border country and back to US might cause the officer to give a shorter entery period the next time.
