Help Lost Passport

Hi,
I am a GC Holder, visiting india and lost my passport, does anyone with a similar experience tell me how long it takes to get a indian passport reissued, i am photocopies of my previous passport and am in Chennai.
Do i have to file a FIR with the police and how long does the investigaitve work take? Sorry if posting on incorrect forum,.

You have an Indian Passport and a Green Card issued by the USA.

You lost the passport in India.

I can only give you general advice.


I think you have to obey the Indian Government laws about the loss of Passport and should file a police report. Do consult a travel agency because their employees deal with such issues regularly. Go to 3 travel agents and hopefully you will meet some knowledgeable person who will give you free advice.

Also if you are near the passport office visit them and ask for information.

In case you are near the American Consulate/Embassy call them and ask for advice.

This is an insulting stereotype about women, and your "advice" is merely a generalization that is soley based your opinion and not fact. Some personal opinions are best kept to oneself.
