HELP - KCC replying information does not match

Hi there fellow DV2013 winners,

I'm in need of your help and knowledge.

My wife has been selected as one of the winners of the DV2013 lottery, so we sent all the forms, pictures, etc. and they were received on August 1st (according to the courier).

A few weeks back, my wife sent an email to KCC to check that everything was in order and that they have actually received the application. We included the Case Number, Applicant full name and DOB, everything copy-pasted from the Notification Letter except for the DOB.

The problem is that they have replied that the information doesn't match the case. So we try again, this time writing the full DOB: Month XX, YYYY (instead of MM/DD/YYYY), same reply. So we don't know what to do, my only guess is that we made a typo in the application last October, in the month or day, because the year is correct since it's needed to check in the ESC page and we got the confirmation letter.

What do you recommend? Have anyone here experienced something similar? If it was a typo in the original lottery entry, how do you think it will affect our case or how can we solve this difference?

Thanks in advance for your reply, and good luck to everyone, those selected and those who weren't, maybe next year (this was our 7th time "playing").

Cheers

Congrats & welcome to the forum;

I've just gone through my ESC page & nowhere does it state to include your DOB however when making a call, they do ask for the DOB??

When I do email KCC,my structure is as below & they do reply.....

Case Number: 2013AF000700XY
Principal Applicant Name: OBEEZY B
Preference Category: DV DIVERSITY
Foreign State Chargeability: KENYA
Post: NAIROBI

Try calling them instead ;that way you'll know if u had a typo in ur DOB. The KCC telephone number is 606-526-7500 (7:30am until 4:00pm EST_4hrs behind GMT).

Have anyone here experienced something similar?

I'm at a loss regarding the above.

If it was a typo in the original lottery entrance, how do you think it will affect our case or how can we solve this difference?

Only KCC &/or the consulate will determine the gravity of ur case.

Good luck.

Yes, like ObeezyB suggests: phone. This is not something you can solve via email and needs to be cleared up asap. I've been less than impressed with their email response, so phone is the way to go. Good luck.

Thank you Vichel and Obeezyb,

Yes my wife called this morning, but the only answer she got was a 100 "sorry madam, I can't tell you anything". I think this confirm my suspicion that there was a typo in the original entry (we triple check, so I don't know how this happened).

Apparently, they will continue processing the case, and we will have to deal with the consulate. But we can't be sure that they are actually processing our case. I mean, their answer is the normal procedure, but we don't know if our case is actually being processed.

If this silly error invalidate our case, it will be very very sad.:(

Obeezyb, that's also my point, we included the DOB in the emails since apparently everyone does it in the forums. But now, I'm not sure if it's advisable to keep sending emails to KCC.

Any other ideas, comments? they will be more than welcome. The waiting is very hard already to now do it in "the dark".

Our C/N is 2013SA000002XX, so we should be up for October (although we sent the documents a little bit late), but no changes in the ESC page yet, i.e. no 2NL. This is not looking good.

Well thanks for your help.

Cheers

Phone again, in hopes you'll get another person who's more helpful, or at least willing to listen and use some intelligence versus just repeating standardised statements. Take note of the person answering your call, write it down. If you get that same unhelpful person, hang up and try again. That works for me whenever I have a problem with a company and get an unsatisfactory answer and they won't put me through to their supervisor. The quality of phone assistance these days is becoming atrocious.

not understanding...

Hola Clorofilo,

Finally someone in 2013 from the same continent :)

I was wondering, did you check your winner letter. Do you see something different from what you sent and said to the call center. You should have access to your case, it is strange they dont see it. What about sending the forms again and double check the letter?

Good luck!
