Help!!! Immigrant Visa received but need extension

Hello,

I require an urgent help regarding a precarious situation.

My sister is a Registered Nurse passed CGFNS/TOEFL/TSE and got her Visa Screen Certificate. She applied for Immigrant Visa last April 2003 and got a Immigrant visa valid to October 2003.

She is pregnant now and on hearing this her employer has asked her to join job after her delivery ie Jan 2004(by which time her Visa validity is over)

Can any of you gurus give a suggestion as what can be done ?

Two options come to my mind -

1. Ask Chennai Consulate if they could extend her Visa citing her
pregnancy as reason.
2. Go to US with her husband.She will get plastic card in 45 days,
come back to India, delivery her child and go back Jan 2004.

Any other suggestions? Please help.
 
She doesn't even have to wait for the plastic card. She can return to India any time, even next day after entering US on her immigrant visa. When she enters US on her visa she will get a temporary stamp on her passport that has the same legal value as a plastic card.
