help! I lost the I-94 form

hi, there:
I lost my I-94 before, now when I file for I-485, it needs that form, I am a F-1 student and have a certified Photocopy of the I-94 ( front and back)from the international office, can I use this for the application or I must file I-102 for the replacement?

INS accepts legible photocopies of documents, meanwhile apply for replacement <eom>

but does INS need to see the original one sometimes?

I asked INS and they said it may need 12 months to 24 months to file I-102 for the replacemnt. what i am thinking is if INS doesn\'t need to see the original I-94, I will not apply for the replacemnt. Do you think there will be some problem? thank you

Not really. You need to leave it with the airline\'s staff if you are flying out of US. Otherwise you just need to provide a photocopy of I-94 in all applications. You can also apply for a copy of your I-94 from INS. This will take months though.
