ok our lawyer has sent in our 485 765 and 130
2 times now and both times they have been sent back stating checks incorrect and there not they are exactly the fee amount that USCIS ask for but they are checks from the attorney would that make a difference?? We are thinking of doing a infopass with helena and asking them what do we do.. will us writing the check instead of the attorney make a difference? And the i-130 that was sent they kept the check and the photos but sent a reject notice any suggestions as what we can do its really pissing me off because its holding everything up for me getting to work..the service center (800#) just says yup its been rejected and why...Well duh we already know that

Thanks Ann

That is terrible!

Can you list exactly how much each check was for? Just to see if someone here notices anything wrong.

The paperwork at the lawyer's office is usually completed by the assistant, and not the lawyers themselves. They make mistakes, just like we all do. It is only wise to sit with them before they send out the forms, cross-check and verify everything to make sure that the information is correct. As for the current application fees, here are the numbers...

I-130: $190
I-131: $170
I-485: $325 + $70 (Biometrics) = $395
I-765: $180

It doesnt matter who writes the checks, as long as the amount is correct. Make sure they send a separate check for each application.

On a side note, the forms are simple to fill. You can do it yourself ;)

Seriously It cannot get easier than this when it comes to AOS fee instructions, thanks to Ari.
Take a whole weekend off or something and fill out the forms, they will give you a comprehensive knowledge about the whole process, and will definitely give you automatic answers to questions that you might ask from others.
I would highly recommend to gothough the instructions as they are pretty self explanatory.

we have checked and double checked the fee's that where sent and they are fine we cant figure out why they keep getting sent back....only thing the rejection notice says is the check was not recived or the amounts are incorrect

Hm... It's really strange then... May be he used abbreviations, such as USCIS for United States Immigration Service? I know that they are really picky about it.
What you could do is make a money order with your bank, and send it yourself. I am running out of ideas here...

Yeah, maybe you can try sending them a money order but I just don't understand why they're returning your checks. It is just too weird.

Have you seen the returned checks? Were the amount right? I bet he/she sent incorrect checks and is telling you that USCIS rejected it even though he/she sent the right amount. Sorry...I have trust issues with lawyers.

Me and my wife are filing everything out ourselves. When we run into something we don't know about we go to infopass and set up a meeting to talk. Infopass is a good thing if you have the time to keep running down there, we are lucky because we both work about 1 block from their office.
But you would figure that your lawyer would be taking care of this for you, after all that is what you are paying him/her for.
If you have not paid the laywer anything yet, I would fire them and do it yourself, it is really easy after reading the directions, and if you have any questions, you could ask on here or set up a meeting through infopass. They will answer any question you have. Sometimes they just repete the same answer that they gave before, but you can get it out them if you just ask again.

Get rid of the lamer and do it yourself, why pay up to $2500 for something you can do yourself?

Oh and send in money orders, it gets things started faster, per: the immigration officer when we asked that question.

I have seen the checks and the amounts I also seen the rejection notices and the amounts for the checks are right ..The I-130 hasnt been returned no check no package nothing just a rejection notice that says check not recived or incorrect amount...We go back and see him Thurday afternoon and hopefully we get somewhere soon My husband is disabled and I need to get to work so I can support my family... I guess I will tell him Thursday that we need to send in Money orders instead and see if that works this time God only knows I guess its so darn frustarting...The reason we took a attorney was because our case from what we were told is complicated because my husband and I have been married 19 1/2 yrs so thats why we hired him instead of doing this all ourselves....Thanks for all your advice and hopefully 3rd time will be a charm

Actually, money orders may be faster for them to cash, but checks are still the better choice, because you can track them.
On the other hand, you have tried checks twice now so maybe it's not such a bad idea to try something different!
Well it's your call. Whatever you choose, I really hope that everything will work out fine for you this time.
Good luck!!
