Help! H1B Expiring in September - EAD or Renewal of H1B?

My H1B is expiring this September.

Should I have to file H1 Extension for 7th year as my I-485 is pending?

or

Is it enough to file I-9 to activate my EAD? If I file I-9, does this need to be send to BCIS or Employer?

Please comment on which is safe, in case any problem with I485 in future.

Please also comment on how to activate my EAD.

It is employers

responsibility to acertain that you are working legally.....just let the HR know that you are now working on EAD....................

its always good to have

a backup thru extended h1 but is an expensive way to go.
You just have to file the i-9 form with the employer and they are supposed to make sure that you have a valid EAD.
