Help GREATLY appreciated...passport renewal question!

Hello world,

I have a somewhat confusing question in regards to renewing my OLD US passport. Im hoping for some possible guidance prior to my meeting at the US consulate here in Vancouver in September.

- I am a dual citizen between the US and Canada

- My OLD US passport was issued in '86, and expired in '91

- I was 11-12 when it was issued.

- When I try to renew it online, the passport book # commes up as invalid.

- I was BORN IN CANADA, to my American mom.

- I do NOT have a certificate of foriegn birth abroad. (as with many other life issues, I am quick to point the finger at my parents on this one :))

- I DO have a valid SSC # and have worked and paid taxes in the US before.

- I have spent the majority of my life in Canada, except for a stint of 5 years in NC.

I am currently an adult, and I am finishing up my University education in Vancouver CAN. My questions are this:

1) What can I expect from my meeting at the US consulate in Sept? Like, what types of forseeable forms, aside from my BirthCertificate, and old US passport, and my current CAN passport, should I bring?

2) What documentation of my parents should I request from them, if any? (cause as im sure many of you can relate, asking my mom for marriage certificates from 25 years ago, will be a real quiet riot to say the least...)

3) Any other suggestions or insights, into this matter would be greatly appreciated, as I am trying to get my US citizenship stuff all in order, as my wife and our lawyer, are currently putting together a K-3 application, as we are hoping to move to the US when Im done school in a year or so.

Thank you world for your time and attention to this matter,

Angus

If your passport was issued 15 years ago, or it was issued before age of 16, you can not renew your passport via mail. You have to RE-APPLY a new passport in person. You will need the exactly same docusmentation that required to proof your US citizenship and sumit them in person at US consulate. In your cases, you will need the birth certificate of any official ID with your name and birth information, and your expired US passport.
