help for re-entry to Canada

I just landed on Feb. as a new immigrant and applied the PR card, then I returned US. Since my photo taken at the border is not qualified, I should retake the photo at the local CIC office. Now the urgent question is how to re-enter Canada.

My landing paper has been stamped by "Not valid for travel". I wonder if I can use it to re-enter Canada. Anyone has the experience? I don't know if there is the same stamp on LP of those old immigrant who have applied PR card. If there is not the stamp they can re-enter Canada with LP.

Is it possible that I apply a travel visa from the Canada consulate in US? Anyone try it even if he/she has landed?

Anyone can tell me how to pass the border of Niagara Falls as a traveler? Is it easier than another border?

pls share the experience or advice if you are on the same boat?

This is what I know from the Canadian authorities

I landed on March 6 and returned to US in 2 hours. My Landing documents were stamped with "Not valid for travel" as well. I have since then received my PR cards.

However, I did ask the official there if it would be a problem to travel to or from Canada before I recieved my PR cards. I was told that I could use the Landing Documents with the stamp until Dec 31, 2003 and that the Canadian immigration authorities would permit the travel. I was also told that there may be a need for a quick interview with the immigration official at the port of entry (not always but just sometimes - depends on the official is what I was told)

Thanks a lot.

The officer told me that I could not leave Canada before I get PR card when I landed. So I am not sure if I can use the LP stamped by "Not valid for travel" come back to Canada.

Where can I find the explanation on the cic website?

I think that you won't find any such instruction on cic web page
However some people have narrated personal experience about crossing back into Canada through land border in this forum.. Of course you cannot use commercial transportation when the LP are stamped NOT Valid For Travel. You can ask for advice from cic call center at 416-973-4444.

BTW have you recieved a second call from cic. My wife is facing a similar problem. After landing in February , She was asked to appear for re-taking of her photo on 14th May which she missed. Now we are waiting for second call. I believe they also issue a third and final call.
 
Yes, I have ever got the 2nd notice since I asked to delay the appointment. I have asked to delay it again. According to my experience, you will receive the notice 2 weeks before the re-scheduled appointment.

pls share your experience if your wife re-enter to Canada.

Here are the details of my case:

I landed on this Feb. Got the 1st notice by mail to re-take photo on Apr and the scheduled date was only 2 weeks later. I asked to delay the appointment and received the 2nd notice just 2 weeks before the rescheduled date on July. Then I asked to delay it again but I did not receive the 3rd notice until now.
